Windsor Court in Harrington Street, Hobart was, in Tasmanian terms a large, high density 105 unit complex. The Tasmanian Government’s decision to redevelop the inner city site was based on the need to provide sustainable social housing, as well as the desire to construct a leading edge example of sustainable development. The preferred design was selected through an architectural design competition with a challenging design brief that encompassed both end-user and environmentally sustainable design criteria.
