Tourism Architecture in Special Places

The rise of tourism in Australia's natural areas has led to a call from Tourism Tasmania for improved facilities to accommodate the influx of visitors in a sustainable manner. It is timely for local authorities, planning bodies and architects to consider architectural design and placement of these facilities. This note examines, through the use of four case studies, how architectural solutions for tourist developments can be derived from the natural landscape in which they are placed.
