Australia’s infrastructure is critical for our economic well-being, but it also impacts significantly on our social and environmental capital. Unlike the property sector where there is a plethora of rating tools to assist designers, and operators assess the environmental impacts of their buildings, there is no such universal rating tool for infrastructure in Australia. The Australia Green Infrastructure Council (AGIC) was formed in 2007 to encourage more sustainable outcomes across the infrastructure industry principally through the development of a Sustainability Rating Scheme for Australian infrastructure. AGIC are calling for members and aim to launch the rating scheme in mid-2009.
