This note, PRO 17, originally published in 1997, was reviewed by John Gelder in October 2002. This summary page includes recent updates to the topic since publication.
These two Notes review a number of issues which arise out of consideration of the natural environment and human health, and which affect the content of National Master Specification Systems (NMSs) and, therefore, their use by project specifiers. They also, incidentally, consider some of the general assumptions and limitations of NMSs. This Note looks at choice, guidance and sources. PRO 18 considers context and publishing, and offers some recommendations.
