An Overview of Operational Energy Minimisation Technologies from Green Building Challenge ’98

David Shipworth

This paper is yet to be reviewed.  It will be reviewed at a later date.  This note showcases a range of the operational energy minimisation technologies in evidence at the Green Building Challenge ’98 (GBC ’98) conference in Vancouver.  These technologies are presented in the form of a checklist intended more as an ‘aide memoir’ to possible environmental technological solutions to specific problems, than as a source of detailed information on these technologies, in their own right.  Where possible, an example has been given to illustrate each technology, and relevant notes and case studies with the Environment Design Guide referenced as an immediately accessible source of further information on these technologies.  This list is focused on operational energy minimisation and does not address issues of embodied energy or other environmental impacts such as water and waste.
